The production of sturgeons has been one of the major breeding programs of the fish hatchery for many years. The breeding shoal of brood sturgeons in the fish-farming area is the biggest in Central Europe in terms of spectrum of species and number. Original local species are also bred at the hatchery, such as Sterlet sturgeon, Russian sturgeon, Stellate sturgeon, and Beluga strurgeon (A. ruthenus, güldenstedti, stellatus, Huso huso), as well as non-original species introduced only in this area, such as Siberian sturgeon, and American paddlefish (A. baeri, Polyodon spathula). The fish hatchery produces small fry and fry stock of “pure-blood” single species to protect the gene pool of the original sturgeon family (Acipenseridae), as well as rapidly growing inter-species hybrids.
With its long-term breeding results in the production of ornamental species of fish and in particular breeding of sturgeons, the Mydlovary hatchery reached a unique position in the Czech Republic. Fishery Hluboka a.s is among only a few firms within the EU that are focused on the production thereof.
Prices for sturgeons and ornamental fish considerably depend on the actual exchange rate of the Czech crown. If you are interested in placing an order, please contact the chief of the Fish Hatchery Center.
