
Hluboka has a more than 600 year-old tradition of fish farming in ponds. Following in the footsteps of this old tradition and its own modern experience, the joint stock company Fishery Hluboka a.s. owns 2,660 hectares of fishing ponds for fish production.
The annual production of fish intended for the market is 1,300 tons, mainly carp (1,200 tons) and other species, such as in particular perch, pike, catfish, herbivorous fish, tench, and white (lean) fish. With its annual production of 1,300 tons of fish, Fishery Hluboka a.s. has 9% share of total production of freshwater fish in the Czech Republic.
The company has its own fish hatchery with the overall capacity of 900 tons of market fish. In addition, it owns fish hatchery in Mydlovary. It has achieved tremendous success with the signing of a contract to be “Contractual Supplier for Prague Castle”.
The production and trade of ornamental fish, sturgeons and fry for stocking of various species in fishing grounds forms a significant share of the company’s business activities.
Game management in the company’s two own hunting grounds and sport fishing in the company’s own fishing grounds are other popular and economically important activities.
